Congratulations and thanks to everyone for another successful round of Parent/Teacher conferences. Classroom teachers did a tremendous job of preparing for these important meetings in order to provide parents with all the information they needed to understand how their children are performing. Thanks to all those who supported classroom teachers by supervising students so they could begin conferences early. Thanks to those who supported the process by translating and helping in other ways. Thank you, Brenda, Lu, and Agnes for all the help preparing, serving, and cleaning up after dinner on Thursday. Parents were very pleased and we received lots of positive feedback from them. Great job, everyone!
P.S. We must mention the fourth-grade team, in particular, who went above and beyond the call of duty by coordinating their outfits for conferences. All we can say is, "Wow."

Students in Mr. Swanson's music class are becoming quite adept at using the clickers to complete their DFA's. Here, the first-graders are working to type in their names before answering the questions on the day's assessment.
There are more examples of students' proficiency with technology. While the adults in the building are certainly adept at using the Promethean Boards and other technology, there have been many cases of students finding the solution to some problem or the answer to some question when the grownups could not. Ask the second-graders how to use the stop watch while muting the sound. Check with the first-graders on how to find a ringing iPad in a backpack, identify that it's the alarm clock going off, and figure out how to turn it off quickly. These are just a couple of examples of how technologically savvy our students are becoming. We are going to have to work hard to stay ahead of them!
