Because... every child in every classroom deserves to have excellent teachers
Haskin Elementary teachers have not only been working tirelessly in their classrooms, they have been busy completing their teacher self- evaluations. In the Colorado State Model Evaluation System for teachers, five professional practice Quality Standards are evaluated using a rubric. These standards are content, environment, instruction, reflection and leadership. The state then breaks down the standards into 27 elements that teachers rate themselves on, and then are eventually evaluated on. Senate Bill 10-191 changes the way all educators (principals, teachers and specialized service providers) are evaluated in Colorado with the ultimate goal of continuously supporting educators' professional growth and, in turn, accelerating student results. Thank you Haskin teachers for all of the excellent work that you do every day!

Our DIBELS Winter Benchmark testing was completed in record time thanks to an amazing group of testers. Thanks to John Noriega, LJ Garcia, Colleen Hurst, Honey Stecken, and Ashley Lane for completing the 2nd grade through 5th grade DIBELS testing. We worked diligently and got the testing completed in one day. The students were well prepared and we were very excited to see that students have grown tremendously. Jaton Pearson tested kindergarteners, and the first-grade teachers worked together to test their students. Take a few moments to look at the data boards in the Elementary Conference room. The room is full of green dots! Thanks again for all of the hard work Haskin teachers and staff are doing to ensure student success.

Teachers and students alike are working hard to ensure that first-graders master Star Words. Our first-grade teachers are putting a spotlight on students who are learning them. The first members of the 200 Word Club are Yareli Pulido, Julian Maldonado, and Mhia Maez. These students have mastered the first 200 words. Great job, students! Of course, they are now working on the next 100 and beyond!

nwea Goals met
"EVERYONE must be committed to excellence in ALL they do EVERY day."
Haskin Elementary teachers and administrators will spend the next few weeks meeting for mid year evaluations. Teachers and administrators are taking a close look at the professional practices identified by the new Educator Effectiveness Rubric. We will be comparing beginning of the year self-evaluation scores with middle of year administration scores. Haskin teachers will set two goals. One goal is centered around student achievement and the other is centered around professional growth. Setting goals lays the groundwork for on-going conversations, feedback and support. Having clear goals will also allow us to create the best path to meeting these goals. Committing to excellence in education by taking the feedback from the rubric and applying it to daily professional practice will ensure success for all.
