Sunshine committee hosts banana split party
|
The Haskin Elementary Sunshine Committee sponsored a banana split party on Wednesday, October 16th for the entire district staff. The Committee was supported by a contribution from the District.
Staff members arrived at school that day to find a banana and an invitation "not to split before fall break" without going to the cafeteria for a treat. The event gave everyone an opportunity to relax for a few minutes and visit with other folks we don't always see on a daily basis. There was a lot of laughter and great conversation among staff and everyone had a good time. Many thanks to members of the Sunshine Committee for organizing and sponsoring the event, and for serving up the banana splits. This will no doubt continue to be an annual event! |
Soccer is one of the simplest sports in the world to learn. This may be the reason why it's the most popular sport in the world. It is definitely a popular sport at Haskin Elementary. Staff vs. 5th was an adrenalin filled morning full of stunning soccer action. Staff and students were dribbling, passing, and creating soccer moves that have never seen before! Players and spectators alike were thrilled with the excitement of the game. The score was neck in neck for most of the game, but alas the teachers prevailed. This victory (and some of the kicks, trips, flips that the teachers did) will go down in Haskin history!

The Haskin Elementary Honor Choir completed their first public performance on Friday, October 18th before the Center Viking Varsity girls' volleyball game. The large crowd rose to its feet for the singing of our National Anthem. Under the direction of Mr. Gabriel Swanson, the students gave a stirring performance of this song that is so special to our country. It was a musically excellent and touching performance by these youngsters. The loud applause at the end demonstrated the appreciation of the crowd. Well done, students!
