Haskin Elementary Rti Team
A change to the RtI process at Haskin is underway. While grade-level teams will continue to spend some time at weekly PLC's discussing student concerns, the actual RtI process will be carried out by a designated team which will meet monthly from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. The team is composed of a cross-section of teachers representing both lower- and upper-elementary grades, as well as Special Education, ESL, administrators and the school nurse. Administrators will be responsible for providing standardized assessment data, such as DIBELS and NWEA. Other team members will act as "case managers" for a specific grade level. They will be responsible for collecting work samples, anecdotal data, and other pertinent information from classroom teachers. We will work to refine this process in order to make instructional decisions for individual students and to monitor the implementation of interventions that will be put in place for them. As is the case with everything we do here at Haskin, the focus will be on student needs in order to help at risk students achieve at the highest level possible. Those invited to be part of the RtI team met briefly last week to discuss the model and plan for our first meeting. We look forward to working together with all instructional staff to intervene for students through a multi-tiered system of supports.
Haskin elementary discipline data
The graphs below are a bit difficult to read, but in essence we would like to see the number of incidents (orange tickets) decreasing. So far in October, the number of orange tickets issued has decreased significantly. At our last staff meeting, we presented this data to all staff. We all have been more present in the hallway, which decreases negative behavior overall. Great work teachers and students at Haskin!
teachers and students in action
Jo Ann Evans received a math grant that will serve approximately 40 students. This grant is a computer based program that is centered around games that increase math fact fluency. Reflex helps students of all ability levels to develop fluency with their basic facts in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Jo Ann and Jessica Stevens are using this program in After School Academy and there are several students doing the program on their own time at school or at home. In only two weeks, the students have completed over 16,000 math problems!
