tcap begins
To kick off TCAP testing, we began the week with a TCAP Pep Rally. The students played a couple of games, shouted some cheers, danced and participated in a spirit stick contest. The pep rally was great fun. Mr. and Mrs. Mack did an excellent job executing the event. The Pee Wee cheerleading squad was well-prepared and gave our students a real emotional boost as they cheered encouraging words. Mr. Noriega helped with the music. This is a fun and positive way to approach this important event. 3rd grade Reading TCAP testing is complete. Our students and teachers worked very hard and the students were very well prepared. We are anxious for the results that we will get back close to the end of the school year. 3rd-5th grade will continue with TCAP testing next week Monday –Friday with make-ups the following week.

22 Haskin Elementary students participated in the local science fair. The students set up their projects in a classroom. The students participated in the project interview process. Each elementary student had three interviews by Mr. Newmeyer and his class. The elementary students were very nervous but overall were well prepared and did a fantastic job. Mrs. Stecken, Ms. Vazquez and Mrs. Hurst worked tirelessly to ensure that our students were prepared for the SLV Regional Science Fair in Alamosa. Mrs. Stecken will take 14 students to compete at the regional science fair on March 7th.

It is an amazing site, packed with information for everyone. Many teachers have begun to use the "brain break" videos included for their grade level. These get students moving and help energize their thinking. Here is a group of kindergarteners moving to "The Gummy Bear Song". |
